ELECTRONICAL ENGINEER

microLIQUID is seeking for an Electronics Engineer to strengthen our Product Development team at the company site in Arrasate-Mondragón (Guipuzkoa, Spain).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Due to its growth, microLIQUID is in search of an Electronics Engineer who will develop its mission through the following functions:

  • Participate in the complete design cycle of our products in collaboration with the rest of the Engineering team: from the design of the initial concept or requirement to the introduction in the production line.
  • Electronic design, both hardware and software, testing, validation, and definition of the electromechanical control systems of the microfluidic prototypes designed, as well as the preparation of the necessary technical documentation.
  • Define the requirements of the designs to be made according to the specifications of each project and oversee both the selection of components and the design of the circuits and embedded control systems.
  • Collaborate closely with the mechanical design area for the development and optimal integration of the electronic part of our projects, both at hardware and software level.
  • Design and validation of electronic control systems, as well as test and test equipment for the development of new products, ensuring their exhaustive compliance (functional and parametric).
  • Promote the company’s philosophy and values in the execution of each project, ensuring customer satisfaction and the required quality standards.

Position requirements:

  • Technical Engineer with a specialization in Electronics, Telecommunications, Mechatronics or similar.
  • Previous experience of at least three years performing similar functions, mainly in the development of electronic interfaces, sensors and design of circuits and low-level communication protocols SPI, I2C, Modbus, CAN, etc.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER

At microLIQUID we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to strengthen our Product Development team at the company site in Arrasate-Mondragón (Guipuzkoa, Spain).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the complete product engineering cycle: from the design of the initial concept or requirement to the introduction in the production line.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the Engineering team in the mechanical design of our microfluidic products (3D models, assembly and assembly diagrams, list of components, etc.).
  • Create, validate and test the prototypes, ensuring that they comply with the established requirements, as well as verifying their correct operation.
  • Prepare and/or update the corresponding technical documentation, ensuring that the standards and procedures established in the organization are always followed.
  • Coordinate with external collaborators (suppliers, contractors, etc.) as well as with the rest of the areas of the organization involved in the design and production process.
  • Monitor design projects, as well as to solve and manage any incidents that may arise during the process.

Position requirements:

  • Previous experience of at least 5 years in mechanical product design and in the development of functions similar to those described.
  • Technical University education, preferably with specialization in the mechanical branch.
  • A committed person, with communication skills, decisive, methodical, and organized. We are looking for a professional with analytical and teamwork skills and detail oriented.
  • Knowledge and handling of 2D and/or 3D design tools, AutoCAD and Solidworks.

SENIOR MICROFLUIDIC CHEMIST

To strengthen our team in the field of Innovation at the company site in Arrasate-Mondragón (Guipuzkoa, Spain), we are seeking a senior chemist for the development of innovative paths in microfluidics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Scouting of new materials, technologies and methods for microfluidic applications, including systematic evaluation, characterization and feasibility studies.
  • Develop the necessary paths towards surface modification of polymeric materials, aiming towards microfluidics and their mass production capability.
  • Develop, in collaboration with other departments, the scaling-up of the developed technologies with innovative potential to mass production level.
  • Management of national and international competitive projects, including cross-functional and inter-departmental project work. Position requirements:

  • PhD in chemistry.
  • Strong background of chemical, physical and structural characterization of materials. Deep understanding of the characterization protocols, their key features, and their control factors.
  • Demonstrable scientific skills, by significant publications in Q1.
  • Knowledge of synthesis of polymeric materials and/or surface modification.
  • Experience in writing and participating in projects of European competitive calls.
  • Creativity and “out-of-the-box” multidisciplinary thinking during solution finding of specific projects.

MICROFLUIDIC ENGINEER

We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong technical background in the field of Microfluidics, preferably with product development experience, who is highly motivated to work with team members to develop and validate new microfluidics-based products for the IVD industry.
Your primary responsibility would be building up test systems and products from the ground up to early manufacturing stage. It is essential that you are a hands-on person with excellent engineering skills and a personal drive to achieve project goal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The main functions of the position are:

  • Lead the design and development of microfluidic systems, considering customer requirements
  • Maintain expert knowledge of state-of-the-art microfluidic designs, features, fabrication processes, and device architectures.
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with scientists and engineers to evaluate technical concepts and contribute to technical decisions to identify realistic and innovative solutions.
  • Implement, analyse and present experiments to demonstrate feasibility of new methods and efficiently move products through the development pipeline.
  • Maintain rigorous records capturing experimental results, design decisions, design concepts, and other similar technical information.
  • Work in collaboration with the NPI team members to ensure technology transfer, during the different stages of development, in preparation for product manufacturing.
  • Document progress effectively through SOPs, drawings, and specification sheets.
  • Manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively with limited oversight.
  • Mentor junior microfluidics engineers.

Position requirements (EDUCATION/SKILLS):

  • PhD or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field (or bachelor’s with significant industry experience in engineering).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in microfluidic device design, integration and testing.
  • Hands-on experience with design of self-contained microfluidic systems integrating microchannels, chambers, mixers, filters, flow control valves or other components.
  • Experience in microfluidic packaging and integration solutions for fluidic interfaces, reagent storage and dispensing.
  • Familiar with microfluidics manufacturing technologies including injection molding, bonding, mechanical machining, laser machining, microfabrication or other equivalent technologies.
  • Experience with fluidic, mechanical, and electrical instrumentation.
  • Experience with Solid Works or other equivalent CAD packages.
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish goals while working across departments is required.
  • Demonstrated experience solving challenging, interdisciplinary research/development problems at the interface of fluidics, biology, chemistry and materials science.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST

We are looking for a Product development Scientist to incorporate in the IVD Team. You will report to the Head of the IVD & Bioscience Lab and Project Managers and work in cross- functional teams including regulatory, process engineering and assay translation operations. Additionally, you will be hands on in the Lab implementing and validating technologies related to immunoassays, molecular diagnostics and cell culture. You will be collaborating with engineering department for study designs, protocols, and reports for IVD projects, guiding junior team members in delivering successful validation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigates, creates, and develops new methods and technologies for IVD projects advancement through a combination of individual studies and team research.
  • Analyses and complies experimental data and reports and records results in laboratory notebook.
  • Prepares documents, including data summaries, reports, SOP´s and procedures.
  • Presents work at meetings as required and proposes new strategies and methods to address immediate and upcoming technical issues.
  • Maintains high level of expertise through scientific literature, competitor products, nd seminars, and serves as technical expert within assay development groups and across other internal departments.

Position requirements (EDUCATION/SKILLS):

  • BS/MS or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biology or a related field. Ph.D. preferred.
  • Experience in biological sample handling, nucleic acid purification, amplification and detection, immunoassays and cell culture are preferred.
  • Experience with microfluidics is a plus.
  • Organizational skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize and handle multiple changing projects and priorities.

MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN

We are looking for a Production Technician to work in our clean room facility. You will report to the Head of engineering and Senior engineers and work in cross-functional teams. You will assist in the manufacture of components and products, including labelling and product assembly, all according to the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and the Quality Management System (QMS).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean room or mechatronics lab conditioning and maintenance tasks under Head of.
  • Cartridge and/or Cartridge Senior Engineer.

  • ≤ 1 year of experience in Life Science or relevant component manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with fabrication under clean-room environment (wafer-cleaning, photolithography, sputtering, dicing, etc.)

PROCESS ENGINEER

We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong technical background in the field of microfluidics. The candidate should have experience in design and fabrication process development and will report to the Head of engineering and work in cross-functional teams. The candidate will lead internal development activities and should be highly motivated to work with team members to develop and validate new microfluidics-based design concepts, fabrication strategies and prototypes for the IVD industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibility would be the development of new microfluidic components and fabrication processes, and the management of recently undertaken It is essential that you be a hands-on person with excellent engineering skills and have the personal drive necessary to ensure project goals are achieved.

  • Collaboration with the rest of the product development team in the tune-up of the production processes.
  • Optimization and improvement of the actual fabrication processes with the aim to achieve the highest operative and organizational efficiency.
  • Development and launch of fabrication processes of the new microfluidic products with the use of new equipment and technologies of microLIQUID.
  • Investigation and development of proposals on new technologies applications with the aim to improve the efficiency of the production.
  • Participate in the different stages of the devices’ fabrication for its verification and validation.
  • Ensure that the process techniques are sided with the corporative goals and the quality policy (ISO 13485).

Position requirements:

  • University degree (specialization: mechanical, electronical, bioengineering, physics, biophysics, or related field).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in industrialization and launch of disposable fabrication products (medical sector, plastic products, thermoplastic polymers, etc.) as well as in cleanroom fabrication.
  • Proactive and innovative person with a high analysis and resolution capacity. We are looking for a profile with adaptation capacity that is used to teamwork and that is results orientated.
  • Good writing and speaking English skills.
